What type of replacement lead-acid battery to use?

First and foremost, we highly recommend using Newcastle replacement lead-acid batteries. Our products are designed around these batteries and weve had excellent results with them. Additionally, the use of 3rd-party batteries may void the warranty. If a user still chooses to source their own battery, here are some guidelines. There are several types of lead-acid batteries: - AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) - AGM MUST be used with our charger. - Flooded - Gel Application Battery Type: - Newcastle batteries are General Purpose but Deep Cycle is also a good alternative. DO NOT use a Starting/Cranking (SLI) battery. Size and fitment: - The replacement battery should have the same capacity (AH or Amp-Hour) as the original battery. - The replacement battery must have the same voltage as the original battery. - Confirm that the replacement battery will fit in the same footprint as the original battery. - Confirm that the replacement battery terminals are compatible with the battery cables. Marine vs Automotive: - Automotive batteries are intended for temperatures above 0F, while marine batteries are intended for temperatures over 32F. - Marine batteries are more robust; they are designed to withstand the jolts/vibrations of boat applications.
